Option one

Three nights in St Lucia

Encircled by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park – South Africa’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site – St Lucia sits on an estuary stretching more than 85 km. It is the easy, beautiful version of a safari add-on: no early starts, everything within walking distance and hippos wandering through town at dusk.

Day 1Sunday 1 August 2027

Transfer to St Lucia

After breakfast and check-out at Umhlanga, you will be collected and transferred to the Elephant Lake Hotel in St Lucia, which is walking distance from shops and restaurants.

The evening is yours to explore the town at your leisure and dinner is for your account. Take a walk down the main street, browse the market stalls and enjoy dinner at one of the many unique, informal restaurants. Watch out for hippos in the streets between from dusk and into the night.  They come out of the river, pass right by the hotel and head into town on their way to graze for the night.

We will then arrive at the magnificent Cape Vidal beach, where the golden sand stretches as far as the eye can see.

A picnic lunch is served on the beach on arrival: a delicious full braai and drinks. Then it will be time to explore your exquisite surroundings.  Take some time to stretch your legs with a walk on the beach, dive into the blue of the Indian Ocean and experience an abundance of sea life amidst the sheltered, shallow reef. (Snorkelling gear included). Sightings of blacktail, angelfish, convict surgeon, damsels, indian goatfish and common lionfish, amongst other tropical fish, are common  sightings in Cape Vidal as well as green turtles, colourful nudibranchs, marbled electric rays, cuttlefish, crayfish, octopus and spotted eagle rays on a good day.
